About me
I was a national-level soft-tennis athlete in Japan. Although this experience was very rewarding, the level of performance was physically demanding and as a result caused many different types of injuries, often requiring treatment.
During this time I realized that I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to help others who were experiencing injuries and pain. This led me down the path of becoming a Registered Massage Therapist.
After completing my training in 2007, I began working as a massage therapist helping patients with lower back pain, motor vehicle accident injuries and general muscle pain. In 2010, I started to work with cancer patients who were experiencing post-surgical issues including scar tissue, limited range of motion, sleep deprivation and pain. A common side effect of cancer treatment is lymphedema (swelling of a limb). In order to help my patients with lymphedema, as well as gain the knowledge to reduce the risk of those who had undergone cancer treatment, I became a certified lymphedema therapist in 2011. I have enjoyed treating patients with lymphedema since then and also completed visceral manipulation course in 2012.
Besides my profession, I also began practicing yoga 10 years ago. I have always liked to keep active since I used to train intensely. I found when I practice yoga, I can connect the mind and body, improve focus, and relieve both physical and mental stresses. And one of the things that attracted me to yoga is that it focuses on prevention as a key method for maintaining individual health.
In 2013, I began the Yoga Tune Up teacher training course in order to teach others. The Yoga Tune Up program can prevent issues by focusing on the 4 P’s: Pain, Posture, Performance and Proprioception.
Integrating my knowledge as a Registered Massage Therapist and Yoga Tune Up instructor has opened a new path in my career allowing me to help even more people.
